Ever wondered what happens when you spend 100 million Dirhams on a huge expanse of land measuring 106 hectares to create a recreational area? Head to the Al Mamzar Park located at Deira, in the north-east of Dubai to see it and believe it.

The park is situated north of Al Hamriya Port and has parking facilities to hold 1640 cars at a time. Hotel and private shuttles ply frequently between the city and the park.

The seaside park includes five clean beaches that have everything that you could ask for to enjoy a great beach day – umbrellas, sun beds, changing rooms, showers, rest rooms, life guards and a watch tower. Hiring umbrellas and sun beds cost a fraction of the charges at Jumeirah Beach Residence Marina. Jet skis are available for those wanting to venture out into the sea to feel the thrill of shooting across the water at high speeds. Keeping in mind the people who are shy of salt water, the Al Mamzar Park also has three huge swimming pools for children and adults.

If you would like to show off your culinary skills, bring your own kebab ingredients and head to any of the 28 barbeque areas near beach no.5 at the Al Mamzar Park. Barbecue stands, grills, skewers, beach umbrellas and comfortable seats await you. And for the prefer-relaxing-indoor types, 15 air-conditioned chalets with all modern amenities are available on beach no.4 for daily rent.

Your little ones will find plenty of options at the Al Mamzar Park – a horde of children’s games, leisure games, roller-skating areas, sledges, climbing and hanging contraptions and a Park Train will keep them delightfully engaged for hours on end. The young at heart and fitness enthusiasts can play football and basketball or rent a bicycle; those wishing to do something more challenging can try out the athletic training area.

When it’s time to replenish your energy, choose your pick from either the main restaurant or the 10 snack houses at the Al Mamzar Park.  Fresh fruit and vegetable salads are a must-try at these shops. Once your hunger is satiated, take a stroll amidst 7900 palm, coconut and other trees, or stretch yourself out anywhere on the 55000 square meters of green lawns. For some end of the day entertainment, remember to check up on the interesting events that take place in the amphitheatre. Dubai artists often hold cultural performances that reflect the rich local traditions.

Before you leave for home at the end of the day, do go up on the 25 feet tall observation tower in the park centre for a view from the top, and let your eyes take in all the wonderful things you enjoyed.

The Al Mamzar Park is open from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm on Sunday to Wednesday and 9:00 am to 10:00 pm on Thursday to Saturday, Public holidays & during Ramadan. Mondays & Wednesdays are “Ladies Only” days, so plan accordingly.  The park charges are divided into per person entry fee 5 AED, car fee 30 AED, pool entry 10 AED for adults and 5 AED for children, rental for large chalet (6 people) 200 AED and small chalet (4 people) 150 AED.
