Jewellery, luxury watches, Italian fur coats, designer furniture, Persian carpets, carpets from Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iran, handicrafts, gifts, souvenirs,  Kashmiri shawls, books, guitars and musical instruments, photographic prints, educational toys, toy camels, sandals, lingerie, other souvenirs, a 442-seat performing arts theatre and much more – all situated with a backdrop of a traditional Arabic Souk setting by water canals.  No wonder that Souk Madinat acts as a powerful magnet for visitors to Dubai who want to have an unforgettable shopping experience.

Situated near the Burj Al Arab, off Jumeirah Beach Road in Al Sufouh, Souk Madinat is the last word in shopping in Dubai, and arguably, in the entire world.  With wind towers, wood-carved archways, winding water canals, and Arabic architecture, the Souk nestles in the grand settings of Madinat Jumeirah Resort. About 75 shops, galleries, restaurants, bars and nightclubs together create the timeless magic of traditional Arabian Souk and draw millions of tourists who visit the place time and again, and yet never seem to get enough of it.

All that walking about in the lanes and bylanes of the Souk, mindless of the hours slipping by, is likely to make the shoppers thirsty and hungry. Yes, there are quite a few interesting restaurants in the Souk, some which include the Segretto for authentic Italian cuisine, the Shoo Fee Ma Fee for Moroccan delights, Honyaki, the Japanese restaurant, Noodle House for Asian food, Barzar the bar with live music, and Jam Base and Pacha, the two top hot night spots in own.  While on the other end of the Souk, you will find Anar, the Persian eatery, Italian Toscana, Ushna for Indian food, and The Meat Co. steakhouse. After you have had your fill, you could just stroll around the Souk, taking in the sight of street artists, the sound of local craftsman working, and the aroma of food from the eateries on the walkways.

Besides being the destination for shopping, dining and entertainment, The Souk Madinat is the also ideal place to shop for souvenirs and gifts; the barrows and street shops sell quaint and unique items that one would normally not find in the shopping malls. There is no dearth of upmarket branded stores either – you have some big brands from Italy, France and the USA, who have set up their flagship stores in the Souk. As they say, there is something for everyone to be found here.

Taking an abra boat tour on the waterway that borders the resort will give you a breather as well as an interesting view of the Souk; you can easily manage to squeeze in the time as the tours operate daily from 4:00 pm to 11:00 pm and there is a tour every 20 minutes.

The Souk Madinat remains open 7 days a week, and the shops’ timings are 10:00 in the morning to 10:00 at night. Located at the Madinat Jumeirah resort on Jumeirah Beach Road, the Souk Madinat offers free car parking; you can also take the Red Line Metro train and get down at the Mall of the Emirates Metro Station, from where the Madinat Jumeirah is approximately one mile away. For more specific information, you could get in touch with the office authorities on telephone +971 4 366 8888 or mail them at souk@jumeirah.com.
