Shopping in Dubai is a dream come true, as there are so many places to go to whether it is an opened air or indoor souq, a flea market or one of Dubai’s numerous malls, the choice is endless.

There is one mall that captured our attention and that is the Mercato Mall located on Jumeirah Beach Road. Is one of Dubai’s most charismatic shopping malls because of its’ individually, ambience and design.

Mercato is designed to be a community mall which is ideal for residents however that doesn’t stop thousands of tourists visiting it from all over the world; and after our trip to the mall, we can understand why.

Spanning nearly 650,000 square feet, Mercato is home to over 140 shops and service outlets featuring a variety of international fashion and lifestyle brands, a comprehensive selection of service outlets and a mouth-watering choice of cafes and restaurants. It is also the perfect mall for fashion lovers as Mercato boasts a great range of women’s, men’s and children’s clothing brands, be it accessories, footwear, sunglasses, jewellery and much more. There are also stores that focus on health and beauty to homeware and confectionery, not forgetting a supermarket, Vox Cinemas, Virgin Megastore and Fun City.

Combine all this with an ambience that takes you back in time to a place in Europe, ideally Italy. It is interesting to know that mercato means ‘market’ in Italian, and it is another hint of what to expect as this is its overriding theme.

Mercato is designed with quaint cobbled streets and even has an al fresco terrace. The architecture is based on a distinctive Renaissance concept, and the mall captures traditional Italian, French and Spanish art. It essentially portrays how a Mediterranean town looked during the European Renaissance. For instance when you are in its’ grand main atrium you will find the structure is made of clear glass, which brings a wealth of natural light and sunshine into Mercato. In the evening the mall takes on a different vibe as the mall’s streets and piazzas are lit up with authentic style street lights.

This mall looks amazing even from the outside and we would definitely go there again, if not for the shopping, just for a quick coffee and a temporary escape from life and feel like you are in Italy or in an exciting town in Europe.

Mercato is opened daily from 10:00am to 10:00pm and if you need more information before your visit please call +971 4 344 4161 or visit their website
