  • The Museum parking area and nearby public parking areas are available (relatively few)
  • Do not self drive to museums and heritage sites as they are located in crowded old city areas and parking is a scarcity there; you are rather advised to use public transport.
  • Wear easy to slip in and out footwear as many places would need you to remove your footwear.

The Middle East is famous for many things. When you think of the Middle East you think of exotic flavours, breath-taking landscapes of endless desert, luxury settings and indulgence, impressive development.

Zooming in on food, we think of the spices and the fusion of tastes that stay with us long after our travels have ended. There are a few must-dos when you visit each region or country and while in Dubai you should if you can, try Shisha.

You might already be familiar with Shisha, by the name of narghile, water pipe, hookah or hubble bubble smoking. Its origins are for sure from Arabia and certain areas of Asia.

Shisha is a social thing to do, friends and even family gather together and spend countless minutes and sometimes hours talking and chatting. Shisha includes sweet fruit or molasses sugar, which makes the entire experience more aromatic. Favourite flavourings include apple, mint apple, grape, mint, strawberry and rose.

There are many shisha cafes in Dubai, some are full of guys while other cafes have a comfortable mixture of both guys and girls of all ages.

Depending on the area that you live in you should easily be able to find a café; Mirdif, Sharjah and Karama have so many. But some that we suggest are the Bo House Café, located in Jumeirah Beach Residence (+971 44298655, www.bohousecafe.com). This chic café can be your home away from home, as it features home cooked hearty meals and of course shisha.

If you fancy a drive out of the city then head over to Al Sarab Rooftop Lounge, an open air lounge with desert views at the Bab Al Shams (+971 4 8096100, www.meydanhotels.com/babalshams). The rooftop offers one of the most relaxing drinking spots in the city and unforgettable views of the Arabian desert.

If your residence or hotel is near the World Trade Center then Cle Dubai is your stop. The eatery offers modern Middle Eastern eats and a plush setting in the heart of Dubai, located in DIFC (the Dubai International Financial Centre) at the Al Fattan Currency House. It boasts a luxurious style, surrounded by contemporary glamour and opulence perfect for meeting with friends at their lounge. Call Cle for reservations on +971 4 352 5150 or visit www.cle-du.bai.com

For a fusion inspired evening, Calabar located at the Address Downtown (+971 4 436 8888 www.theaddress.com) is a Latin lounge bar that presents uplifting music and incredible views.

And finally why not visit Barasti, one of the most talked about places in Dubai. This beach bar is at the Le Meridien Mina Seyahi Beach Resort & Marina, on Al Sufouh Road, Jumeirah Beach (+97143993333 or www.barastibeach.com). Choose a seat on the beach, order some food, drinks and shisha and get ready for a relaxed but fun night out.

Whether you have tried shisha before or if it’s your first time it’s definitely something to try while you visit the beautiful cosmopolitan city of Dubai.
